She bites everyone, including me… She has a vocabulary of the words ‘cheeto’ and ‘cheese’. also she imitates my mom’s security alarm, mimics our sneezes, does the ‘sexy whistle,’ and likes to ride on peoples heads. She enjoys tearing newspaper and plants into strips for fun. Sometimes this includes fine literature or artwork. She hangs out on a disco ball hanging from our mantle and spins around. she is a good bird, despite her vampiric tendencies.”

“She belonged to my mother in Florida for seven years, but mom couldn’t deal with the biting after a while, so I agreed to adopt her. Soon after moving her to brooklyn, she built a nest and laid an egg … She is currently building another nest, so maybe I will be treated with another tiny egg. PS: She really likes to sing along to dub and classical music.”

“This is me and Danny Boy,” KRISTEN writes. “Doesn’t everyone have a pet penguin?”

Danny Boy is a Megellanic penguin that we took care of at the Prospect Park Zoo for a while because the aquatic aviary at the Bronx Zoo collapsed after a snowstorm … Not sure how he got his name, but he was very attached to humans. He tried to court me by bringing me nesting material (sticks, etc.). All guys should be so nice.”

Underhill Stacey writes: “These are my two ProHo cuties. Brandon is 9 years old, and the world’s best son. And this is a picture of him with his kitten, Sonic. Sonic does not seem to know that he is a cat. He loves to play with Brandon’s Game Boy, and gets annoyed if Brandon does not let him lay in front of him and watch.”

Q. Why is Brandon the World’s Best Son? And does he have a coffee mug to prove it? “He is the world’s best son because he thinks I am the best mom ever … he thinks I am way cool … And because he tells everyone his mom is 25 years old.”

This week’s ProHo* Cutie(TM) comes courtesy of Jose, who writes: “This is Bob the bichon, the pooch Jessie and I got at the Brooklyn shelter last November. The little guy only stands 10.5″ at the whithers, and thinks he owns the streets of Prospect Heights. Ah, the Napoleonic Complexes of tiny dogs!”

“Used as watchdogs and to perform tricks, this breed is competitive and obedient. Like a lot of smaller breeds, the Bichon may be difficult to housebreak. The Bichon Frise was one of the “Yuppie Puppies” very popular in the 1980’s. As a result many were carelessly over-bred and some Bichon lines can be snippy. When seeking a Bichon be sure to find a reputable breeder to get the best personality traits this breed has to offer.”

Jose responds: “So true; so true — except for the housebreaking part. Bob came to us housebroken. The little booger can hold it for 24 hours when necessary.”

Thanks to 11238 for submitting her ProHo Cuties. She says: “Doxy (the red one) was named after a Sonny Rollins song. Sonny is a jazz saxophonist. Doxy actually means “loose woman.” We found that out when it was too late. Bebop, aka Beebs, was named after a type of jazz. They are complete opposites. Doxy follows my husband and I around while Beebs just stays put. Doxy barks at everything while Beebs snores and farts.”
