What do we do now – block IP addresses? Upgrade to the latest version of Movable Type (3.16), which includes the a new version of the ‘nofollow’ plugin?

I’d say upgrade. Or try MT-Blacklist. Erm…I wish I could remember right now where I got that from.
Better yet, upgrade to 3.15 (or .16) and try MT-Spamlookup as well. They work nicely together.
I use it on my blog The Epicenter and it catches 99% of comment and trackback ping spam.
