DEALS: Digital Photo Prints for 15 Cents on Flatbush

Posted by dailyheights on Friday 11 March 2005 at 12:00 pm

[NEW “DEALS” CATEGORY on DAILYHEIGHTS: If you find a decent deal at a Prospect Heights business, let us know: whatsnew@dailyheights.com]

can-o-matic 1970_cmm70.jpgHow cheap can digital photo developing get? If it seems absurd that you once paid 49 cents per print to those extortionists at Ofoto (who still want 25 cents per print and shipping $1.49 and up), consider that you can get 4×6 prints for 15 cents apiece at Mailboxes of Park Slope.

To get this deal, you have to upload your files to pephoto.com and then go pick them up at the store.

As for the quality of the prints: who knows? But for 15 cents each, it’s worth a try. If it’s awful, there’s always Winkflash, which offers very good film-quality prints for 16 cents a piece, and 99-cent flat-rate shipping.

New Secret Way to Get to DAILYHEIGHTS

Posted by dailyheights on Friday 11 March 2005 at 10:31 am

proho1.gifThanks to a $4.99 domain sale at Yahoo!, “ProHo.org” will now bring you to DAILYHEIGHTS, straightaway. The content is the same, but you’ll save a few keystrokes, and you can take pride in using the special “locals only” entrance to the site.

ProHo and “The PH” seem to be the most popular and intuitive nicknames for the neighborhood, at least in this Nickname your neighborhood thread.

Muddy Waters Storefront: Still Vacant

Posted by dailyheights on Friday 11 March 2005 at 9:51 am

muddy waters space-tn.jpgHow long has Muddy Waters been gone now? And how much is New Millennium Real Estate (718-499-2000) asking for this 675-square-foot space, anyway? There HAS been a lot of interest, and sources say that they were originally asking for something like $75k-$85k for the key to space plus rent around $1,200.

Then, about a week ago on Craigslist (Feb. 25) they were asking $3500/mo. (nothing posted about a key fee) and were advertising it as an “espresso bar” space, if memory serves correctly. So, if you can sell 7,000 cappuccinos a month and don’t mind just breaking even, then this might be the space for you.

Anyway, the Craigslist posting is now expired, and they don’t appear to have relisted the space, so maybe a new tenant is getting ready to move in?
