DAILY NEWS reported today what Bruce Ratner said yesterday: "We still can get there by 2007-08, but I think ‘08-09 is more likely." The original plan was to move the New Jersey Nets to Brooklyn in time for the 2007-08 season.

TRADE SECRETS: “Traditional Indian Salad” at India Place

Posted by dailyheights on Tuesday 1 March 2005 at 9:47 am

TraditionalindiansaladDuring a recent visit to INDIA PLACE on Vanderbilt Ave., we discovered the Mixed Traditional Indian Salad w/House Dressing (SOUP & SALAD course, $2.50). Though there are no guarantees that you’ll be able to reproduce this dish in your own kitchen, we offer this as a rough guide to the ingredients:

-Iceberg Lettuce
-Sliced Tomato, ripe
-Sliced Cucumber, also fairly ripe
-Italian dressing (Kraft? Wish-Bone? The waiter wasn’t specific)

A lot of questions remain. On what part of the subcontinent can you find "traditional Indian salad" consisting of iceberg lettuce, tomato, cucumber and Italian dressing? And how far back does this tradition date? We may need to do a follow-up on this.

ProHo 4-month-old Deprived of Conversational French, Jiujitsu Lessons

Posted by dailyheights on Tuesday 1 March 2005 at 6:39 am

Baby_1Your neighbor Colleen checked in from her Prospect Heights kid bunker: "The Salon interview with the author of the new mommy book "Perfect Madness: Motherhood in an Age of Anxiety" irritated me so much I wrote them a letter:"

"When I think of my
grandmother, who raised nine children on a fireman’s salary — in the
days before disposable diapers! — I find it impossible to take the
whining of ‘Perfect Madness’ seriously."

"I am the mother of
a 4-month-old boy, and while we have not signed him up for lessons in
jiujitsu, conversational French or advanced beekeeping, we are having
an absolutely wonderful time. It can be done! — Colleen"
